Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about speaking with a solicitor, what to expect, and how we can help. If you need to contact us, please use our contact page.

Do I need a solicitor if the police contact me?

If you are asked to attend an interview (voluntarily or under arrest), or you think you may be under investigation, getting advice early can help you understand your position and the process.

Can I speak to a solicitor before answering questions?

Yes. If you are being interviewed, you can ask to speak to a solicitor before the interview starts and before you answer questions. If you are unsure what to do, it is usually best to seek advice first.

Is our conversation confidential?

We treat communications with clients as confidential. If there are any limits or exceptions that apply to your circumstances, we will explain them clearly.

What happens in the first call or consultation?

We will listen to what has happened, identify the immediate priorities, and explain the practical next steps. If you have documents (letters, emails, bail sheets, summons, etc.), it helps to have them available.

How quickly can you respond to urgent matters?

If you have an urgent issue (for example, an interview or immediate steps you need to take), tell us the deadline and any dates. We will prioritise urgent requests where we can.

Do you handle matters outside London?

Yes. We can assist clients across England and Wales, depending on the matter and the arrangements needed.

How do fees work?

Fees depend on the type of work and the urgency/complexity of the case. We will explain the options available and confirm costs before we start any substantive work.

What should I do if I have received a letter from the police or another authority?

Keep the letter and any enclosures, note any deadlines, and avoid discussing the details publicly. You can contact us and we will talk through what it means and what steps (if any) you should take next.
